UWE TABATT

TABATT

Uwe Tabatt is no ordinary artist. He has developed and preserved his own unmistakable style and therefore cannot be pigeonholed. His pictures tell stories, however only at second glance will one discover small details that the artist cleverly incorporated to captivate the viewer and offer multiple new aspects.

His pictures not only document facts and events but, they also show visions and provide food for thought. On the other hand they leave the viewer with a smile and at the same time they make the viewer ponder. Often these are serious facts, which he visualizes with artistic professionalism, always carefully tailored with a pinch of irony and humor.

He is conscious about the world that surrounds him and integrates his thoughts through his artwork. In this way he encourages the viewer to change perspectives and stimulates critic reflection on what is depicted. Uwe Tabatt has a very special approach to his  artistic realisation. His pictures have a stereoscopic effect and he intensifies this effect by adding plastic elements.

His art combines an impetus critic of civilization with a fantastic realism.

Artistic Approach

The core of my work is the depiction of states of transformation. I focus on the balance between growth and decay, taking into account social, urban planning and biological aspects. My art combines an impetus critical of civilisation with a fantastic realism. I think about the world that surrounds us and translate this into my works. How do I bring the here and now into my work in a modified form and perhaps into a new context with the seemingly familiar. I transport fragments from the past, memories paired with current impulses into visions of the future, which are intended to provide food for thought and stimulate a change of perspective and critical reflection. I am interested in the elemental force of nature as well as ecology, industrialisation and progress.

Utopian arrangements arise from the dynamic moment in which nature and civilised living worlds collide. I consciously leave my works in a kind of suspended state. They are in process and in flux. Unambiguity disappears in the complexity. My arrangement of natural objects with everyday objects or architecture into biomorphic forms also stands for the responsibility in the interrelationship between man and environment. My work always begins with the idea of mixing visual impressions in terms of form and content, creating a tension, giving an impulse, shaking up familiar visual habits and charging them with new expression.

Experimenting, utopising and transforming. Nothing is as it appears at first glance.
